Just one glance and you would be mesmerized by his tall stature, his deep voice and his confidence. After one conversation you would want to learn more about him. His stare was intense and inviting, and he was jovial. I approached him and introduced myself. At the end of our conversation he shared, “I’m a slave and anxiety has been my master since I was fifteen.” I remained silent as he continued to tell me how tired he was of pretending and having anxiety attacks.
THE REMEDY FOR ANXIETY
For him, talking was not the answer, he didn’t want to disclose his past, but he wanted to heal. We spoke about different non-invasive techniques I could use to help him, and he chose the Emotional Freedom Technique-EFT Tapping. I warned him that it required work, he smiled and pointed to his muscular arms stating, “I’m curios and a bit nervous but I was born ready!” His eagerness to learn about what was causing his anxiety, his willingness to do the work despite his fear, and his openness to the possibility of healing lead to his success in ending the control anxiety had over him.

Tapping focuses on the same points used during acupuncture and acupressure. These points are located on meridians through which the body’s energy flows. Since it is believed that chronic stress and trauma causes negative emotions and leads to blockages in the body’s energy flow, tapping on these meridian points releases energy blockages and the associated the negative feelings.
