Mernelle Saint Jean, LCSW
Trauma & Postpartum Mental Health Therapist ยท Fort Lauderdale, FL
Hello, I'm Mernelle Saint Jean
I love getting to walk with people as they find their way back to self-love, self-trust, and healing. My colleagues tend to describe me as creative, playful, and full of joy, and I bring that same warmth into the room with me. Outside of work, you'll find me cooking, traveling, and spending real time with the people I love.
One of the great privileges of this work is watching someone discover that they were never broken. I work with new and expecting mothers moving through anxiety, depression, guilt, overwhelm, and the other tender parts of the postpartum season. I also support people grieving pregnancy or infant loss, along with teens and adults who have spent years feeling like the black sheep of the family โ carrying loneliness, self-doubt, and the quiet belief that something is wrong with them.
Together, we explore the stories you've absorbed about yourself and notice which ones still deserve a place in your life. I help you build self-trust, develop a kinder relationship with yourself, and move from feeling ruled by your emotions and symptoms toward hearing what your mind and body have been trying to tell you all along.
My work is shaped by Somatic Experiencing, AEDP, Internal Family Systems, and Brainspotting โ approaches that reach past words alone. Healing here often looks like learning to listen to the wisdom of your body, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with the parts of you that have carried pain for far too long.
I also honor the spiritual beliefs you bring with you. When it feels right to you, I welcome faith into our work as a source of strength, healing, and resilience.
Whether you're living with anxiety, recovering from trauma, finding your footing in motherhood, grieving a loss, or simply trying to find your way back to yourself โ you'll have a space here where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood.

Helps you notice and understand your nervous system's responses so your body can release stored stress and move toward greater regulation, safety, and resilience.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Meets the protective and wounded parts of you with curiosity and compassion rather than conflict, helping you reconnect with your core self.

Frequently Asked Questions
I do. Speaking Haitian Creole allows me to connect with clients in a way that feels familiar, comfortable, and like home for many in our community. Therapy is deeply personal, and being able to express yourself in your preferred language can make a meaningful difference in feeling understood.
Therapy may be a good fit if you feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or trapped in patterns that no longer serve you. Many of my clients come to therapy because they are tired of carrying everything alone and want support creating meaningful change.
I specialize in helping teens and adults navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, postpartum challenges, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I also enjoy helping people strengthen self-trust and develop a healthier relationship with themselves.
Many of my clients have spent years feeling misunderstood, rejected, or different from those around them. Therapy can help you explore those experiences, challenge harmful beliefs about yourself, and build a stronger sense of self-worth and belonging.
Yes. I enjoy supporting women navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, anxiety, depression, guilt, overwhelm, and the many emotional changes that can come with motherhood.
Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to healing trauma and stress. It helps you notice and understand your nervous system's responses so your body can release stored stress and move toward greater regulation, safety, and resilience.
Our emotions, symptoms, and physical sensations often communicate important information about our needs, experiences, and nervous system. Rather than fighting those signals, I help clients become curious about them so they can better understand themselves and heal.
No. Healing happens at a pace that feels safe and manageable. We begin by building trust and creating a sense of safety before exploring difficult experiences.
Absolutely. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping clients reconnect with their inner wisdom, strengthen self-trust, and feel more confident in their ability to make decisions and navigate life's challenges.
Yes. I honor the spiritual beliefs of each client and, when desired, integrate faith into the healing process as a source of strength, hope, and resilience.
Brainspotting is a trauma-focused therapy that helps access and process experiences that may be difficult to fully resolve through talking alone. It can be particularly helpful for trauma, anxiety, grief, and emotional distress.
Yes. My goal is to help you build skills and resources that support your healing long after our sessions end. Therapy is not just about insight โ it is also about developing practical tools you can use in everyday life.
My hope is that clients leave therapy feeling more connected to themselves, more trusting of their own wisdom, and less afraid of their emotions. I want people to discover that healing is possible and that they deserve the same compassion they so freely give to others.
