Nicky Cameron, LCSW
Founder & Attachment-Focused Trauma Recovery Therapist ยท Oakland Park, FL
Hello, I'm Nicky Cameron
I'm a native island girl who loves a good backyard gathering, arts and crafts, and time with the people I care about. I enjoy cooking, and I firmly believe that laughter and good music are some of life's best medicine. I'm energetic and passionate by nature, though I've also learned the importance of slowing down and refueling with a good nap. In my free time, you'll often find me traveling, dancing, or deep in a good game that challenges how I think.
The people I work with are often the strong ones โ the ones who carry everyone else โ and my deepest commitment is making sure they finally get to be carried too. I draw from an attachment-focused, trauma-informed approach that honors the deep connection between mind, body, soul, and spirit. I believe lasting healing happens when every part of a person is welcomed, understood, and supported. Witnessing people heal, grow, and discover new possibilities for their lives is one of the greatest privileges of my work.
Because trauma affects far more than thoughts and emotions, I specialize in working with adults whose unresolved trauma has begun impacting their relationships, health, nervous system, and overall quality of life. Many of the individuals I serve have spent years searching for answers to symptoms such as chronic anxiety, burnout, digestive concerns, fatigue, sleep difficulties, chronic pain, autoimmune challenges, or other stress-related health conditions without realizing how deeply unprocessed experiences may be contributing to their suffering.
Outside the therapy room, I'm often developing new programs, teaching and mentoring clinicians, volunteering, or immersed in advanced training to sharpen my skills. Lifelong learning is one of the ways I honor the trust my clients place in me.

Frequently Asked Questions
I work with adults who have experienced relational trauma, complex trauma, chronic stress, attachment wounds, and nervous system dysregulation. Many of my clients are highly capable individuals who are tired of carrying everyone else's burdens while neglecting their own needs.
My approach integrates attachment-focused therapy, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, AEDP, Internal Family Systems, and nervous system regulation. Rather than focusing solely on symptom management, I help clients understand and heal the deeper wounds driving their anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and stress-related symptoms.
Trauma healing often requires more time than traditional therapy sessions allow. Ninety-minute sessions give us the space to move beyond surface-level conversations and engage in meaningful trauma processing, nervous system work, and deeper emotional exploration without feeling rushed.
Most clients meet with me once or twice per week. Together, we'll determine the frequency that best supports your goals, symptoms, and healing process.
No. I provide specialized 90-minute trauma recovery intensives that are offered on a private-pay basis. Most insurance plans are designed around shorter sessions and typically do not cover this treatment model.
Working outside of insurance allows me to focus on your healing rather than insurance requirements. It gives us greater flexibility to tailor treatment to your needs, spend more time in session, and address the root causes of your struggles rather than simply managing symptoms.
Yes. Many people notice symptoms such as chronic anxiety, digestive issues, fatigue, sleep disturbances, chronic pain, autoimmune challenges, muscle tension, and other stress-related health concerns. While therapy is not a substitute for medical care, addressing unresolved trauma and chronic stress can support overall well-being and nervous system regulation.
No. Safety comes first. We move at a pace that respects your nervous system and your readiness. Building trust and helping you feel grounded is an important part of the healing process.
Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to trauma healing that helps people understand and regulate their nervous system. Rather than focusing only on thoughts, we also pay attention to how trauma is held in the body and work toward greater resilience, regulation, and well-being.
Many of my clients have worked with multiple therapists, physicians, or treatment providers before finding me. Often, they have gained insight into their struggles but still feel stuck. My approach focuses on helping clients move beyond understanding their experiences to creating meaningful change in how they feel, relate, and live.
Yes. For clients who desire it, I can incorporate faith-informed perspectives into the therapeutic process. I honor each person's beliefs and strive to create a space where mind, body, soul, and spirit are all welcome.
My hope is that clients leave therapy with greater self-trust, deeper self-compassion, healthier relationships, and a nervous system that no longer feels stuck in survival mode. I want people to discover that healing is possible for them.
